Fujin Packaging Project

Fujin is a conceptual packaging design that integrates the concepts of Shinto and draws inspiration from Japanese furoshiki create a sustainable packaging solution.
'Fujin' refers to the Japanese god of the wind. The logo I designed is an ambigram for the word, 'Fujin', and represents the duality of the force of air, as well as the versatility of the packaging solution.
The furoshiki cloth is a square cotton cloth, in which I hand-painted a design inspired by traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
I created two sets of folding instructions, the above for an umbrella, and the below for a hand fan. By doing so, it demonstrates the versatility of the cloth to wrap objects of various shapes and sizes.
Additionally, the furoshiki cloth can cater for other uses as well, from a grocery bag, to a gift wrap.
